That is why God had the story of Ruth in the Canon of Scripture, to remind us that we have a God that plans. We have a God that is not absent from the picture, planning not only situations in our lives but his ultimate purposes for the world. Martin Luther King knew that, didn’t he? That was his hope, his eyes were focused on the Promise and Providence in his harsh situation. We need to be reminded that even over thousands of years, over historical details too numerous for us to fathom, that God is hovering, and moving in time to orchestrate his great plan of establishing his kingdom in fullness. This story actually, in a round about way, pushes us to think about the end times when Christ will reign over all the heavens and the earth in full glory! Remember, the Scriptures start in a garden but end in a city.Christ is establishing his Kingdom in the world and the best is yet to come. However, there is purpose to our suffering, Christ has honored you and I with the burden of being his hands and feet, seeking justice, mercy, and loving people into this Kingdom.
